Dec 2nd visit to Ahavizhi hostel

We from Annajeyam trust, A.Kamaraj and Mr Santhosh Kumar visited the Hostel called Ahavili, own by Mr. Palaniappan who is also Visually Impaired, where 25 Visually challenged children are staying who are from various places. The don’t have permanent home, the children are left by parents who failed to take care of them. Few have parents who doesn’t take care, few doesn’t have parents. Their basic needs only are fulfilled in the place where they stay now. We visited the place to make the children aware of the education and about the job opportunities for the Visually Challenged. The students over there actively participated and interested to know at the job opportunities.
Mr Santhosh Kumar who accompanied me is working in Naukri, gave a speech on how to attend the interview’s and how to prepare the resume. As that is more important for college going students, which is going to help them in taking next step of approaching companies and to prove their skill sets.
Mr Palaniappan cooperated very friendly to us and greeted in a pleasing way. His hearty request is to arrange an computer and Staff who can teach spoken English for them. So viewers and sponsers please come forward to help this disable children who wants to achieve in their life. You can donate used working condition computer or money or welcome to take English class for them.

Children’s day Celebration in Sathya girls hostel

Sathya Girls hostel is situated near Gandhi museum, Tallakulam, Madurai. It is a hostel for orphanage and semi orphan students run by Government. There are about 150 – 170 girls studying from 1std to XII are staying in this hostel.
Mr. A.Kamaraj – Founder of Anna Jeyam trust (with the support from his family & friends) organized a children’s day celebration today (25.11.2012 – Sunday) from morning 10 am to 6 pm. They have conducted various games and competition to the students today. Following are some of the individual games conducted today:
1.      Drawing
2.      Essay writing
4.      Biscuit eating competition
5.      Singing
6.      Painting
7.      Blowing balloon
8.      Hook and pin
9.      Needles and beeds
10.  Poem writing competition
11.  Fancy dress
12.  Art from waste etc…..
They have also organized some team competitions like:
1.      Quiz
2.      Drama (English & Tamil)
3.      Balloon dragging
4.      Water passing
5.      Group songs etc….
The day was full of fun and joy to those students. All the students participated in the games with lot of energy and happiness. Remember, all these students have practiced on their own and they have excelled in their performances. All the students were provided tea and snacks by the organizers. Prizes were given for all the events to those students who came I, II and III in the competitions. Geometry box, files, crayons, drawing books, pencil box, pouch, pen set, note books etc were given as prizes.
The key point to be mentioned here is the discipline of the students. All the students behaved excellently and they co operated nicely to make this event a grand success. To be frank, we cannot see such a discipline even in some of the top most matriculation schools. The respect they showed to their elder students in the hostel, their encouragement to the other fellow participants were really amazing. We have noticed lot of future scientists, actress, politician, singer, musician, teachers, lawyers, IAS, IPS etc etc today.
Mr. A.Kamaraj and his family are doing a very excellent job by supporting these students through Annajeyam trust. The ultimate aim of this trust is to provide education, job assistance to the poor people and JAWS training for the visually challenged students. Mr. A. Kamaraj is currently working in M/s. IBM, Bangalore and in spite of his hectic official work, he is doing all these works with the marvelous support from his father, mother, brother and sister in law.
Friends, we know how much we waste for an useless movie, un healthy fast foods etc. All these students require was a very little attention and care from our side.  Try to spend at least 30 minutes to one hour in a month with them. Try to provide them some good clothes, pen, pencils, note books etc… Some of his friends and supporters are taking free maths, science tution to the students on their holidays. We can really motivate and train these students to achieve greater post in their career. They will never forget us in their life time.
After a very long time, we have spend 4 hours usefully and happily with these children. The happiness and satisfaction we got today, I am sure we will not get in any cinema, park, hotels, theme park etc.. We feel very proud to have a friend like Mr. A. Kamaraj.
There are many more hostels like this in our city and in our country. We can contribute to our country by supporting these children to come up in their life.
Let us all support and motivate to have more number people like A.Kamaraj and his family.s

                                          Regards- Murali

We identified a girls hostel near Gandhi Museum, opposite to corporation
swimming pool. We request all the helping hands to bring mirth to the
orphan girls hostel run by govt of tamilnadu, which have children from std
1 to 12th. We personally identified very few basic needs of those pitiful
children like,
1. The hostel is not having proper bathroom/toilet.
2. Building for both school come hostel is in very pathetic condition,
so lot of renovation work has to be done.
3. Students are not having enough beds compared to their strength.
4. Children are not having enough daily needs like soap, paste, soaps,
dress etc.
As of now we have started an educational guideness for higher class
students, by arranging teacher’s for special classes to score high marks
in their academic.
We kindly request you to provide financial and other supports for the
benefits of these children.

I went to Aravind Eye hospital and met the field workers, and gave them idea about the importance of educations and job availabilities. Basically field workers job is to identify the disabled people and ask them to go to hospital, these workers will also be going to villages. But the field workers have no knowledge as where do they find information about the facilities available.
The ideas suggested are,
1. Once identified try to find how confident they are and make them aware of schools available where they can provide good educations.
2. If they are educated and not employed make them aware of job available in banks and various sectors.
3. Low vision people can be employed in any job if they are educated well.
4. Make them listen to news and some one should help in reading newspapers.
5. If possible make them self employed like packing stuffs and others and told them not to sit idle at home.
6. After retirement most of the people may be sitting in the village, identify them as they may have better ideas about helping disabled people to read and write, so identify such people and make a group then and there.

I went to Shanmugams NGO, where he has a hostel for disabled people. I met the students from 1st standard to college, and made them aware of job availabilities, told them to get the one word aptitude books and convert it to cassettes and get them trained.
Met with field workers of that NGO where they work in various parts of Tamilnadu. Made them aware of various category of VI, gave them tips to help people with low vision and total blindness. I also added that “All have very good future if they are properly trained”. So highlighted them where the educations are given and how to approach for jobs.

Gone to one School called Pattu Poochi, where education is provided to all kind of disabled people. I checked what kind of tools and other stuffs they have. They personally requested me to provide them the computers, through which they can train the students with JAWS knowledge. So when they pass out of the school they will be trained well and will be easier for their higher education and will be prepared for self employment.
In all the above mentioned programs I highlighted three things which are important that is
1. Improve English knowledge in aspects of communications.
2. Concentrate in General Knowledge.
3. Importance of JAWS training
